At SSD Contracting, we understand that results matter. We always strive to create superior results and great experiences for everyone involved. Here are a few recent projects we've completed that highlight how we can help.

Ward Creek Clearing & Snagging

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – New Orleans District

The project involved clearing a 3.3-mile stretch of Ward Creek in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Tasks included removing vegetative debris along the creek banks, mulching for easy disposal, and constructing temporary access roads with aggregate surfacing. Additional efforts encompassed traffic coordination, setting up barge unloading and debris stockpiling areas, installing truck wash-down racks, and restoring disturbed areas with fertilization and seeding. All operations were conducted from the water using a barge-mounted excavator that loaded debris onto shallow-water barges.

I-285 & SR 400 Reconstruction

Georgia Department of Transportation

The project required the selective demolition of three (3) bridges and the complete demolition of two (2) bridges. SSD designed all demolition to provide minimal impact to local interstate traffic according to GDOT Specifications. All work was performed 24/7 until demolition was complete.

Plane Train Tunnel West Extension Phase 1

City of Atlanta - Department of Aviation

This design-build project at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport included tunneling and modifications to elevator and escalator locations to enhance passenger flow. The work involved selective demolition inside the Domestic Terminal across the Platform, Apron, Mezzanine, and Boarding Levels. Demolition tasks included removing elevated slabs, elevator pits, concrete beams, foundation walls exceeding 42 feet in height and 3 feet in thickness, precast stairwells, and performing saw cutting for new openings. Architectural demolition was carried out on all four levels.

Quarles Water Treatment Plant Phase 1

Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority

This large-scale phased project provided the replacement of Plant 1 at Quarles Water Treatment Plant. Work included asbestos abatement and demolition of Plant 1 to clear the site for new construction. Excavation was needed around the 30-foot-deep concrete structures to facilitate demolition. The project required complex phasing to allow other parts of the plant to remain operational while demolition and construction took place.
