Storm Damage Flood Control Projects – Ellis Swamp, Broad, Pungo, and South Creeks
OWNER: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Wilmington District
The project consisted of the repair and replacement of multiple drainage culverts, removal and disposal of all fallen and leaning trees, restoring creek bank around end of pipe culverts by backfilling and placing riprap stream protection, and a major slope repair for four separate Flood Control Districts along 47 miles of drainage creeks. A total of more than 8,000 trees were removed and disposed by burning, 81 culverts replaced, and over 1,000 tons of riprap installed.
